100 Days Project

Jacinda: Inkweed

100 black ink drawings of common New Zealand garden weeds (plants found growing where they are not wanted). The drawings, made on A4 paper, will loosely depict the plants' essential characteristics. Where possible I will identify them using the Massey University Weed Database and other online sources. On completion I will output all the drawings as one large poster on photorag paper.

Day 38:

Scarlet pimpernel

Botanical name: Anagallis arvensis
Family name: Primulaceae

Looks like it could be a stringy piece of scarlet pimpernel, although I don't know for sure, it's not flowering yet.

Scarlet pimpernel is a relatively small, scrambling annual weed similar in size and growth habit to weeds such as scrambling speedwell and chickweed. It contains a few toxins which has occasionally caused poisoning problems. (Massey Uni Weeds Database)
