Doing the impossible
I say I'm too tired to do a given thing, but thirty seconds later, if circumstances require it, what do you know? I can. I can carry 15kgs of baby up hills and stairs and for quite a lot longer than I think I can, because the alternative is a whole lot of misery, of screaming toddler in public, of disapproving looks from passes-by. And vain person that I am, I prefer the impressed and/or sympathetic looks I get from people who are puffing and carrying nothing up the hill except themselves and their hiking stick. Pansies.
