Day 5:

Brooke Howard-Smith spins some eggs for science

Today I bumped into TV personality Brooke Howard-Smith, known for presenting Target and Cadbury Dream factory.

I put two eggs on the table and asked him to tell me which was boiled and which was raw without removing them from the table.

The trick to this is to spin the eggs, and you will see that they spin at different speeds.

The hard boiled egg is easy to start spinning and easy to stop spinning, the raw egg is harder to start spinning and when you stop it, it will keep turning a little bit.

This is because the raw egg has fluid inside which keeps moving inside the egg, even when you have stopped the egg from spinning outside by holding its solid shell.

The hard boiled egg is a soild object so when you stop the shell, all of the egg stops.

Try it at home and see if you get the same results!
