100 Days Project

Jacinda: Inkweed

100 black ink drawings of common New Zealand garden weeds (plants found growing where they are not wanted). The drawings, made on A4 paper, will loosely depict the plants' essential characteristics. Where possible I will identify them using the Massey University Weed Database and other online sources. On completion I will output all the drawings as one large poster on photorag paper.

Day 68:

Birdsfoot Trefoil

Lotus pedunculatus

A leafy clump from the front verge which contains masses of this tiny-leafed weed, mixed in with annual poa and narrow-leaved plantain.

A brief description of birdsfoot trefoil from NZ Plant Conservaton Network: Scrambling herb, either forming dense yellow flowered patches or scrambling through other vegetation, leaves with 5 lobes, small ( c. 1 cm) yellow, pea-like flowers in groups of 12 or more at the branch tips.
