100 Days Project

Jacinda: Inkweed

100 black ink drawings of common New Zealand garden weeds (plants found growing where they are not wanted). The drawings, made on A4 paper, will loosely depict the plants' essential characteristics. Where possible I will identify them using the Massey University Weed Database and other online sources. On completion I will output all the drawings as one large poster on photorag paper.

Day 93:

Purple cudweed

Gamochaeta coarctata

Found several small plants growing out of a crack in the pavement on Invermay Ave. Nice simple leaf shapes make it an easier one to draw.

Very variable, rosette-forming annual or biennial, distinguished by the stalkiess leaves, with shiny, hairless upper surfaces and white, woolly-haired lower surfaces. The leaves die off by the time of flowering. The small, whitish flower heads are in dense clusters along the erect flowering spike. (Common Weeds of NZ)
